Video: Striker targets permanent move
New striker Raul Correia could turn his loan into a permanent move to York City should he impress over the coming months.
The 24-year-old Portuguese marksman has joined the Minstermen from League One club Blackpool until the end of the season.
That follows his Seasiders' debut last night against Shrewsbury Town in the Football League Trophy. He also includes a recent loan stay at Guiseley having earlier in his career proved a regular goalscorer with Radcliffe Borough.
"I've worked with Dave Penney [before] and he gave me a ring when my loan finished at Guiseley to see what I was doing," Correia told York's official YouTube channel. "I told him I haven't really got many plans at the moment.
"He knew that I had a game yesterday against Shrewsbury for Blackpool, so he said get that out of the way and we'll see what we can do," he continued. "Blackpool rang me today and said that York have come in on a loan deal and I just want to come here and get some game-time and goals - and get York that promotion we're after.
"[I'm] powerful, with strength and speed, that's what I'm about. And score goals. If it all goes to plan and I'm scoring goals and enjoying myself, then I don't see why not [a permanent move]."
Angola-born Correia goes straight into the squad for the weekend visit of Bradford Park Avenue to Bootham Crescent.
