York City winger Aidan Connolly admits he just needs to start adding more goals to his game over the remaining months of the campaign.

The 22-year-old Scot has found himself far more involved since the appointment of manager Martin Gray in October, having largely stayed out out-of-favour while also regularly struggling with injuries under the previous leadership.

However, the diminutive former Dundee United forward has still only found the net twice in seventeen appearances for the Minstermen this season and acknowledges he must markedly improve upon that.

"I'm back in now and need to keep working hard and keep my place," Connolly told BBC Radio York. "The only thing is I need to start scoring goals but I think that will come. I've had a lot of chances to score and just need to start taking them.

"I'm not scoring just now but as long as we're winning," he reasoned. "It's all about the team and we've won the last three games so I'm happy.

"We've started to play a bit more and the two North Ferriby games, I thought we played all the football. Darlington, I thought was pretty similar and we had to fight a bit more. But we're playing a lot more football.

"We've always had a good squad but struggled to get a few wins on the bounce. But now we've got three on the bounce and hopefully on Saturday we can go and win again and try push to get into the play-offs."
