Video: Winning brings confidence - Parkin

Striker Jon Parkin says regularly winning games naturally brings more confidence as York City chase a fourth straight victory against Bradford Park Avenue this weekend.

The 36-year-old claimed his 24th goal of the season from the penalty spot in their latest 2-1 victory at Darlington to leave the visitors only just outside the play-offs - although they would definitely return to them should they overcome their next opponents on Saturday.

"Confidence comes from winning games and we've won three in a row," Parkin told BBC Radio York on Thursday afternoon. "We've got a home game on Saturday and are looking to make that four.

"To be fair we were in the game [at Darlington] first-half. I don't think that my 'goal' was offside, which obviously puts us 1-0 up and it's a different game," he continued. "But to go in 1-0 [down] at half-time was disappointing because we didn't think there was much in the game. To get Newts' [Sean Newton] goal straight after half-time gave everyone a lift and obviously we kicked on from there.

"We're trying to pass it a little bit more and obviously some pitches were not conducive to that. It's tough when it's as boggy as it was on Saturday. But we just want to keep trying to do the right things and hopefully that will start bringing results."

However, Parkin, who has scored eight of York's last ten goals, admits he unfortunately won't be available for the forthcoming visit to Tamworth due to their artificial playing surface.

"I'll be no good for 3G with my knee," he added. "I'd be struggling for a week or two after, so hopefully someone else can get in and get us a result."
