Futsal: Gap closes at bottom of the table

York City Futsal are still three points above the relegation zone following their weekend 6-3 defeat at FC Salisbury United.

The Minstermen extended their recent barren run to eight games without a victory despite initially leading as Daniel Pedras was twice on target alongside new skipper Fabinho Almeida.

Elsewhere, bottom club London Genesis ended Cambridge United's lengthy nine-game unbeaten sequence with a 6-4 home triumph.

Fellow strugglers Loughborough also collected a surprise point after sharing four goals with top-of-the-table visitors Reading Escolla.

But Tranmere Rovers remain in trouble following a 7-4 reversal at increasingly serious title-challengers London Helvecia.

Otherwise, Birmingham strengthened third position with an impressive 7-3 success at London City; Manchester overcoming Oxford City Lions by the same scoreline in a mid-table clash.

Weekend Results: FC Salisbury United 6-3 York City; London City 3-7 Birmingham; London Genesis 6-4 Cambridge United; London Helvecia 7-4 Tranmere Rovers; Loughborough 2-2 Reading Escolla; Manchester 7-3 Oxford City Lions
