York City v North Ferriby United

York City
North Ferriby United

Bootham Crescent

Sun 1st Jan

Having moved off the bottom of the table with a Boxing Day knockout at North Ferriby United, York City must do it again when hosting the same opponents - who replaced them in that position - this afternoon.

The Minstermen have lost just once in five games - and that a very late defeat at leaders Tranmere Rovers - while also maintaining successive clean-sheets in their previous couple of games.

However, they still remain three points below the safety line and having already played a game more than their rivals.

With a couple of difficult meetings against play-off chasing pair Dover Athletic and Barrow up next, York must ensure there is to be no slip-up and make full use of home advantage while attempting to secure themselves just a fifth league win of the campaign.

Their current tally of only four victories remains the worst in the division and a couple fewer than even latest opponents North Ferriby, who have already failed to score in ten of their fourteen away fixtures and total just five goals on their travels this season.

Vital Quotes:

"If, for any reason, we feel that because we've won at North Ferriby, we just have to turn up for another three points, then we will be in trouble, but I feel we're a bit mentally stronger now as a football club," manager Gary Mills told The Press. "We've only lost one game in the last five and that was a late goal at Tranmere."

York City Team News:

On his 30th birthday, converted defender Yan Klukowski was expected to recover from a groin injury but Aidan Connolly, Lanre Oyebanjo, Danny Galbraith and Clovis Kamdjo remain sidelined, although the former two should both return over the next few weeks.
