York City will be attempting to record a first-ever victory over Maidstone United in their vital relegation clash at Bootham Crescent this weekend.

The Minstermen have drawn three and lost four of seven previous meetings between the clubs, either home or away, but must certainly break that particular sequence this time.

Should they achieve that it would definitely move them off the bottom of the table while simultaneously signalling a sixth victory in ten games, with only one of those lost.

In contrast, Maidstone arrive having taken just two points from the last available twenty-seven on their travels and seeking a first
clean-sheet in twenty-two games either home or away.

Their manager Jay Saunders has already publically admitted he fully expects York to pull clear of relegation despite their current perilous position, and must be especially concerned given the recent slide of his own team - which in itself makes them particularly dangerous opponents.

Vital Quotes:

"Scott [Fenwick] come in last week and done really well," manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York. "Scott was one of them that maybe people thought was going to be either out on loan or training with the youth team. I didn't see that. I've liked Scott since I've come in here; he's worked hard, I like him as a lad, he's good around the dressing room - and I think he proved that with his performance last week. Jon [Parkin's] been immense for us since he's come back in and people will say Jon back in and Fenners out, so we'll just have to wait until the team-sheet goes in at two o'clock."

York City Team News:

Striker Jon Parkin returns from suspension while defender Lanre Oyebanjo [calf/knee] is also included in the squad. But attacking midfielder Aidan Connolly [hamstring] again misses out.
York City (probable): Letheren, Bencherif, Klukowski, Parslow, Heslop, Lappin, Newton, Whittle, Oliver, Parkin, Morgan-Smith
subs (from): Simpson, Rooney, Moke, Holmes, Fenwick, Oyebano

Player to watch: Jon Parkin

A must-win game for York and their talismanic striker is a key ingredient in a much-improved attack.

Maidstone United Team News:

Maidstone have forward pair Delano Sam-Yorke [illness/groin] and Yemi Odubade [foot] back in contention. Midfielder Alex Flisher is also pushing for a recall while on loan Cambridge United striker Joe Pigott should once again lead their attack.
Maidstone United (probable): Worgan, Twumasi, Coyle, Acheampong, Mills, Taylor, Flisher, Prestedge, Lewis, Sam-Yorke, Pigott

Player to watch: Bobby-Joe Taylor

Eight goals in thirty-three appearances this season, including one on the opening day of the season against York at the Gallagher Stadium.
