York City will take another massive stride towards safety if able to complete only their second league double of the season when visiting Solihull Moors on Good Friday.

The Minstermen secured a fourth league victory in six games at Chester last week while recovering superbly from their recent midweek home defeat to Bromley.

This time they come up against an outfit who have lost their last five games while sliding dangerously towards the relegation zone, with the most recent of those a shocking 9-0 mauling at promotion-chasing Tranmere Rovers.

While their manager Liam McDonald confessed to feeling "embarrassed" and of the "real sense of shame in the squad," that fact alone makes them very dangerous opponents.

Having at last broken out of the bottom-four themselves, although only on goal-difference, the visitors recognise that a second consecutive away triumph would automatically lift them above their hosts in the table.

It would simultaneously take them onto 48 points and probably requiring just one more victory from their final three games - two of which are at home - to ensure their own survival.

With around a thousand fans expected from York, the visitors could even receive the benefit of the greater share of the support - and manager Gary Mills has already regularly highlighted the massive part the 'Red Army' has played in trying to help achieve the 'Great Escape'.

Vital Quotes:

"People always said in the game when you lose, good teams always bounce back," manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York. "At the moment we're showing that we're a good side because we keep doing that. You can't pick and choose what game you're going to win and lose. We were hoping to get a result against Bromley - we didn't. And we bounced back against Chester, so we picked up a massive three points after a defeat."

Solihull Moors Team News:

Solihull expect to have their captain Liam Daly returning but Shep Murombedsi and Calum Flanagan both remain doubtful while Regan Charles-Cook is suspended.

Player to watch: Simeon Maye

Seen as a keen influence in midfield and recently rewarded with a new deal.

York City Team News:

Skipper Simon Heslop [diarrhoea and sickness] is a current doubt for the visitors, with defender Yan Klukowski also once more ruled out. Otherwise, Lanre Oyebanjo [thigh], Matt Fry [knee], Simon Lappin [Achilles] and Clovis Kamdjo [knee] remain as longer-term casualties.
York City (probable): Loach, Parslow, Bencherif, Newton, Holmes, Heslop, Hall, Whittle, Morgan-Smith, Parkin, Oliver
subs (from): Moke, Muggleton, Fenwick, Rooney, Connolly, Letheren

Player to watch: Alex Whittle

One of the visitors' most consistent performers during an especially turbulent campaign for the club.
