York City conceded four goals for the second successive weekend as Wycombe Wanderers completed a league double by romping to a comfortable 4-0 victory at Adams Park.
The Minstermen never really recovered from giving away a third-minute penalty calmly despatched by Dean Morgan, who added another from the spot just before the interval.
Manager Gary Mills made a couple of changes at the break to try and alter the flow of the contest, but it was to no avail as Joel Grant and Dave Winfield added further goals to leave York still glancing nervously over their shoulders.
The visitors had earlier made a dreadful start with Scott Kerr immediately losing possession on the edge of his own area and bringing down Morgan, who expertly steered his penalty past Michael Ingham.
Despite his side still appearing bright during the early stages it was the former Northern Ireland international keeper then blocking from Sam Wood following another Kerr slip.
But York continued to enjoy a decent share of the play although with absolutely no end product until Matty Blair badly scuffed a Curtis Obeng cross wide.
Home striker Grant looped a header over in reply and Morgan was denied on the break by Ingham before Jamal Fyfield was penalised for a challenge on Grant inside the area right on the stroke of half-time. Morgan easily converted his second penalty of the afternoon.
The visitors made a double-change at the interval with a welcome return from injury for Ashley Chambers and a swift re-introduction for the dropped Alex Rodman, who replaced usual suspects Michael Potts and Patrick McLaughlin.
On loan Blackburn Rovers defender Jack O'Connell soon headed a Jason Walker cross behind while fellow stopper Anthony Stewart surged with intent towards the opposite direction and thrashed wide.
But Wycombe extended their lead just ahead of the hour with Grant dribbling into the area and tucking neatly past Ingham after Daniel Parslow was caught in possession.
York should have replied when Walker volleyed over from close-range following Blair's break releasing Rodman, while Grant whipped a dangerous ball across the face of goal in reply.
However, the Chairboys then took advantage whilst left-back Fyfield was off the pitch receiving treatment, when the unmarked Winfield headed in at a corner after the ball had moments earlier come back off the crossbar.
Substitute Rodman later struck wide for the visitors before finally forcing the first save of the afternoon from Jordan Archer just prior to the end.
