Rewind Extra: Little goes a long way
Back in December 1998 York City were celebrating an illustrious triumph at the expense of recently fallen giants.

Manager Alan Little was unsurprisingly full of Christmas spirit following the dramatically late 2-1 victory against Manchester City.

The Minstermen moved up to fourteenth place in the Second Division courtesy of goals from Gordon Connelly and young debutant substitute Andy Dawson, in front of the biggest league attendance in five years at Bootham Crescent, 7,527.

"That was all about character and commitment," Little told The Press. "I wanted to have a performance of passion, because we needed that against Manchester City, and I got it.

"All the players grafted their tails off and sometimes it's right that you get a lucky break," he added. "I thought we were going to run out of legs as the second-half wore on.

"But the players have battled through it and there were signs we might just get something at the end of the match. This has been a great result for us to take into Christmas. We've got to be boosted by it."

Victorious York had recovered having gone into the contest following last week's narrow 2-1 defeat at AFC Bournemouth, but now have fresh injury concerns for the Boxing Day arrival of Burnley.

Opening goalscorer Connelly suffered a pulled thigh muscle, while striker Neil Tolson was similarly withdrawn due to a strained hamstring.
